With an upcoming regionals in Wilson, NC, I figured it'd be appropriate to post up on what you should have, and do at a regional. Follow these tips and whatnot, and you'll be ready for a regional near you!
First, we're going to cover what you need to do before you even think about coming to a regional. Failure to do so may result in a loss of respect, or worse. Well, you use your imagination for that.
Hygiene: Please, for the love of God, smell and look good for the event! I'm not saying look like a hottie in front of a few hot blondes, because there won't be any! It'll be about 95% guys, and the other 5% of the population will be girls....that are NOT single! Even if you play in the middle of a mall, no girl would wanna watch a nerd like you play a children's card game! ANYWAYS! Make sure your teeth are brushed, you shower before you leave, and make sure you're in comfortable shoes and clothing during the event. And PLEASE change that tampon if you get mad for losing!
Properly prepare your wallet: You will need a form of ID and your COSSY number. Also, bring enough cash to last you the entire day. For a regional, $50 should suffice. This means $20 for entry fee, $20 if you wish to get into the sneak peek, and $10 for food for the day. If you're a huge fat ass (or a dog), bring another $50 more for food. I'm sure you'll still be hungry after 10 meals at McDonalds. I'm sure we all know who we're talking about! Oh and if you wanna risk getting kicked out, bring a crap ton more money if you wanna buy cards from other people. But really. $50 and you should be good to go. Also, see your friend about gas money, because that wasn't included in the money.
A properly working mind and brain: If anything, get some sleep. I know it's hard to sleep before a regional since you're dreaming that you're fapping to your invite form, but PLEASE make sure that your head is screwed in right. If not, you're going to be using Effect Veiler on something like Rescue Rabbit or Beast King Barbaros. You're going to be at the event all day, so also make sure that you're able to mentally be able to stay there. Most importantly, make sure that your addictions are satisfied. If you gotta drink anything with caffeine, bring a $4 Mio Energy Water mixer. It will make you drink more water, and it makes you hyper. Then maybe when you get home, you will have enough energy to bang your girlfriend!
With that said and done, now we need to know what we should bring that's card-related. Do not exceed any of what's on this list, or you might suffer the consequences if you're not careful.
Deck: NO! NOT YOUR DICK! YOUR DECK! GOSH! Only bring the deck that you wish to play in the event. Don't bring any deck that you might not play all day. I personally think that dueling for fun at the regional is a waste of time.
Completed Deck List: Understanding that you can get a list to fill out at the event, please print one out and fill in your list at home! This will save you about 30 minutes of prep time, and it'll allow more time to trade with others. My suggestion is to fill in the list with a pencil, and bring that same pencil with you. If you suddenly need to change something, your eraser will be your friend. And please no giant dick pencils! They make the words move and creep others out.
New Sleeves: Refer to my sleeve guide for more info. Just know that you should get new sleeves so you get the best quality shuffle before the game. Lets just hope you don't get the best quality stack against you.
Trade Bait: This is optional. Although, you should bring some if you're willing to lose it! We need to minimize the stuff that you should watch at the event, so don't bring too much. If it gets stolen, I really don't know what to tell you. The staff at your event is essentially useless, and you'd be pretty lucky if an honest person found your stuff and turned it in. If it were me, I'd be slick and it'd be gone. Just kidding! I'd turn it in! =]
Well this concludes Part 1. Stay tuned for part 2 when I cover what to do during the regional!

Elemental HERO Escuridao: Difference Maker?
How long have you been looking forward to this card to come out? It won't be too long, folks. It's coming out sometime this year (date uncomfirmed). Today, we're going to look at how much of a difference maker this card will be in every HERO deck, and what new, innovative ways you can make a HERO deck!
Elemental HERO Escuridao
Level 8
DARK/Warrior/Fusion/Effect
2500/2000
1 "Elemental HERO" monster + 1 DARK monster
Must be Fusion Summoned and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. This card gains 100 ATK for each "Elemental HERO" monster in your Graveyard.
Although this card may not be too good on it's own, think about what we have for E-HERO Fusions! We will have one of each attribute + 1 E-HERO Monster! This means that the deck becomes an absolute toolbox, and we can now associate a HERO deck with DARK monsters! In current decks, there are no DARK monsters in the deck. Now we look at some now more hevily broken cards with this card!
Super Polymerization: Very first thing we think about is now we can use ANY monster with one E-HERO monster on the field! It's even more annoying that this card cannot be chained to! This means that we should expect to see 2-3 of these main-decked in each deck! Not to mention, in other decks, these will be sided as a staple! All that needs to happen is for 1 E-HERO monster to be on the field and any other monster will do! All I can say is get a playset of these now! If you don't, you will realize this card's price going WAY up!
Summoner Monk: If you decide to stick with the same style you've always stuck with, run 2 of these. It's another Stratos searcher, and even an instant Xyz, and an instant Miracle Fusion! It might cost a Spell card, but for 2 searches, it's worth it.
For current HERO players, you should know how tough it can be to handle a mirror match. Especially if your opponent plans to +1 off of your field with Super Polymerization. With Escuriado out, it's going to be difficult to keep any E-HERO monster on the field. If put in the right deck, many pluses are going to generate with that card! I have arranged a deck that you should consider trying out on Dueling Network!

2x Elemental HERO Nova Master

1x Number C39: Utopia Ray

As you can see, not too much of a difference between the current build and the Escuriado build. However, I'm sure there will be so many tries at a Chaos HERO deck. Stupid BLS. It's his fault! Zombie HERO? Possible rebirth of D-HERO's? Jeez! This deck can do anything now!
So is Escuridao a difference maker? Yes it is! If possible, pre-order 3 of them! Even if you don't play HERO's, it's price will skyrocket shortly after selling out!

Card Analysis: Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell
I've looked at a lot of things this format, and I've noticed the growth of decks that run 3 of a very specifically important Spell card. Today, we're going to look at a very underrated Spell card called "Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell!"
Counter Trap
Discard 1 Spell Card. Negate the activation and the effect of a Spell Card and destroy it. Your opponent cannot activate Spell Cards with that name during the rest of this Duel.
If you've watched Yu-Gi-Oh GX, You've probably seen the episode where Bastion used this card to negate, and prohibit Polymerization for the rest of the duel. In today's game, you can probably do almost the same thing he did! Lets look at some of the matchups this card has a significant advantage against.
HERO: With 3 of just about every good Spell card ran, it's never a bad thing to run it in a side deck. Lets negate Gemini Spark or Miracle Fusion! Either we shut down a draw engine, or shut down an entire Extra Deck! Of course, you can use it against Pot of Duality in any matchup, but Spark and Fusion are the most effective cards to negate!
Dark World: No Gates of the Dark World? No problem! You slow down the deck. You can also use it against Dragged Down into the Grave, or Dark World Dealings! As long as you limit them to what they can do, you should have this matchup no problem.
Gravekeeper: As annoying as Necrovalley can be, you can prohibit it for one duel just by the negation of a card! Also great to play it against Gravekeeper's Steele! You should win if you can do it on both in one duel! As an added bonus, Malific Stardust Dragon is also dead!
There are other decks that this Seal can severely affect! To sum things up, you make more of their deck dead and you take one big part of their deck out of the equation! Sometimes, that's all you really need to win a crucial game, or even a match! Give this card a try in your side deck! You'll love me if you do.

Top 5 Most Underrated Decks this Format!
Sometimes, the best decks are the decks that you don't even expect to see. Typically, people are too occupied with playing with one of the newer and more popular decks, that they forget all about how good the old deck can be. That or certain changes were made to the ban list, and people abandoned the deck, assuming it was bad. All I can say is it can come back to haunt you!
With that said, we're going to look at 5 underrated decks. From least, to most underrated. You'd be surprised on what you'd find on here! Well. Here we go.
#5: Photon Beat: We did discuss earlier about this deck. You just wanna be like "WTF! Scrub!" if you see your opponent drop a Photon Crusher and set 3 backrow. Truth is, beatsticks win this format. Believe it or not, it's one of the most stable decks in the game! It can handle Banishing cards as well as Skill Drain. Any deck that can do that is really good! You'd be pretty shocked on what it's good against. It has a huge potential of beating Rabbit! If you can find your scrap Photon cards laying around, turn them into a deck! You'd be surprised of the result! Not to mention, very cheap!
#4: Infernity: Yeah. Infernity Launcher is at 1. So what? Considering that Wind-Up loops are still lerking around, I'm loving how some Xyz's like Leviair the Sea Dragon are really helping this deck win! Anytime you have 3 Infernity Barriers face down, you're almost probable to win that game. It really does take serious preperation to beat an Infernity deck. Tell you the truth, Shadow Imprisoning Mirror isn't enough to win. Draw it too late, and you're bound to lose. Lets just hope Barrier gets reprinted in the next Gold Series, so that we can all make our own Infernity decks, and we'll finally realize how underrated this beast of a deck is!
#3: Flamvells: Did we not forget about Flamvells? Anytime you can get a free Level 8 Synchro just for destroying a monster by battle, we're looking at some underrated stuff! Rekindling is also a very tough Spell to deal with. It's up to 2 Synchro's per activation! I love decks that have the ability to Synchro without much effort. Not to mention Flamvell Firedog is a 1900 ATK beatstick, which can eliminate the majority of the meta's early monsters! If you have them, try Tour Guides and Xyz's in this deck! You won't believe the result!
#2: Agents: I've been told this many times. "Agents are bad. Use something else." Well how about be more prepared for it, THEN call it bad! With everyone temporarily abandoning Leeching the Lights, it's almost certain that we call this deck underrated. Think about it. Turn 1 Gachi Gachi is still very possible. Only 1 Earth? No problem. Replace with 2 Jupiters and still play your Tour Guide engine. For T.G. Agent Users, play 1-2 Rush Rhino for replacement for Striker(s). Herald of Orange Light is also very nice for negating ANY effect and destroying them. Not to mention, Archlord Kristya can win you a game or two. Try it! You just might win a local tournament with it!
So what's the most underrated deck this format?
#1: Machina Gadgets: My adventure to Raleigh had made me really make this an underrated deck. If you're looking for a deck to defeat the entire meta, this is the deck for you! Anytime you face a Machina Fortress, you're having to think before you act. It's really good against Inzektors, Wind-Up's, Rabbit, and Six-Samurai. Although it's very common that we're prepared for decks like this with cards such as Cyber Dragon, it won't help too much considering how the backrow can cause problems. Not to mention with the Gadgets, you're almost certain to have a monster in hand every turn! Going to say this. It's one of the most annoying decks to play against! If you're not careful, you'll lose control of the game very quickly.
If anything, make these decks on Dueling Network, and win with them. Next topic I talk about will be comparing DN with real life playtesting. Enjoy your reading eye candy and have a good night!

The Guide to Card Sleeves
If you're looking for a nice way to prepare for a regional, here's a nice guide to just one of the things that you should get before you begin round 1. It's called brand new card sleeves! If you plan to play with old sleeves in an event, expect a game loss, and a request to buy and change sleeves. I'll just give you the guidelines on what NOT to buy.
1. Clear sleeves. Complete waste of money, and any marked cards will be noticeable. A solid color is suggested.
2. Standard Sized Sleeves. Oversized sleeves for short, they can stack since the cards can move around. Don't try double-sleeving either. You'll get game losses for marked cards.
3. Dragon Shields. They break easily. Simply don't buy them.
4. Anything less than a 60 count. Or you'll have to spend more money to buy another pack. I'm trying to save you money for a soda here! 50 count Ultra-Pro's suck due to every pack having a different size in some way.
Typically, you'd just buy a pack of card sleeves, sleeve them up, then play with them for a while. Unfortunately, there's more to it than just that! You gotta find the sleeves that are perfect for you. We'll go into what brands there are and the feel of each sleeve.
Player's Choice: Only good colors for this brand are White and Pink. White ones are considered the best sleeves for any player, but depending on sleeve personality, they may only last throughout that entire tournament. Pink is alright. Nice color though. These sleeves come in 60 count, and cost around $6. KMC's are the japanese version of these sleeves.
Ultra Pro's: Has a kinda rough, yet, smooth feel to shuffling. Although you may experience sleeve-breaking if shuffled aggressively, they are really nice for gameplay. Each color is equally as good as the other, although people normally use white just to make themselves look pro. 60 counts cost around $4. Cheaper than PC's.
Dragon Shields: As mentioned before, bad. 100 count for $4, but they break so easily. I'd rather buy a pack of cigarettes than a pack of these, and i don't even smoke!
MAX Protection: Typically nice artwork on each sleeve. After a while, the edges wear out, and you'll notice the plastic start rolling. Not recommended.
Deck Prot: I guess nice fun sleeves. Don't get these. Some sleeves have a wrinkle or something in the backs. Can I say marked cards?
So what's your best bet? For me, I'd go Ultra Pro's. They shuffle so well, even lasts longer, and even if a sleeve breaks, you got more to work with. You should try PC's sometime though if you haven't yet. For myself, I had to get new PC's every other week since they got sticky easily due to how my hands are. You should ignore every other brand of sleeves other than PC's, KMC's, or Ultra Pro's. Enough said.

YGO In-Depth Analysis: Photon Beatdown
Wait. Photons? Are they REALLY that good? Konami has spammed one or two Photons in like everything since Photon Shockwave. What we got from the Premium Collection is enough to make a nice anti-meta beatdown deck! Not to mention, very cheap! No card in the deck is worth more than $10! Today, we look at the deck, and what makes it so competitive. We have a few good cards that make the deck!
Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon: Not a bad card after all! We threw them into our dollar binders and left them as that. This card can actually get around D-Prison, Mirror Force, etc. You chain it's effect to remove both itself, and the monster it's battling! If you for whatever reason, hit an Xyz monster, it gains 500 ATK for each Xyz material on the card when it comes back!
Photon Sabre Tiger: Gadget? Reminds us of one. Only 1200 ATK with just one on the field, but with more than one, they're 2000 ATK each! Also cheap too! I remember finding these for 25 cents each!
Photon Thrasher: Cyber Dragon, but your opponent doesn't have to control a monster! The catch: It can't attack if you control another monster. With what we're working with in the deck, it's well worth it!
Twin-Photon Lizard: Not good on it's own, but when tributed, you Special Summon the Fusion material used to bring it out! Using 2 Photon Dragons for this makes it very dangerous! You can also use ANY Photon Monster if you clog into your Dragons.
Photon Trident: Horn of the Phantom Beast, but like 10 cents each! Target Photon Monster gains 700 ATK and piercing! When that monster does damage, it gets an MST effect! Awesome enough to exterminate any annoying backrow that may bother you.
Photon Sanctuary: You get 2 2000/0 Tokens! Only purpose, with the restrictions, is to tribute them both to Special Summon a Photon Dragon. Still a really good backrow bait card!
Skill Drain: Thrasher and Tiger can finally be on steroids! This will be fun.
And we got MORE Photon Monsters coming out next set! This includes 3 new Xyz's and some more random stuff. For now, though, we have a pretty solid decklist. 5-0 (Matches) on Dueling Network so far!
Monsters: 18:
3x Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon
3x Photon Sabre Tiger
3x Photon Thrasher
3x Photon Crusher
3x Beast King Barbaros
2x Interplanetarypurplythorny Dragon
1x Honest
Spells: 10
3x Photon Trident
2x Photon Sanctuary
1x Future Fusion
1x Heavy Storm
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Dark Hole
1x Monster Reborn
Traps: 13
3x Skill Drain
2x Dimensional Prison
2x Torrential Tribute
1x Solemn Warning
1x Solemn Judgment
1x Mirror Force
1x Dark Bribe
1x Starlight Road
Extra Deck: At least 4
1x Twin-Photon Lizard
1x Stardust Dragon
2x Number 39: Utopia
You fill in the rest.
1 Warning? We got 3 Skill Drains! We don't need too many Life Paying cards in the deck.
Anyways. That's it! Feel free to test any of the decks posted here on Dueling Network! =D

Deck Comparison: HERO Drain
In this section, I pretty much take a deck and compare it with my build, showing the mistakes that I made when making my deck. Then I go in detail on why everything is so good in each build.
For today, I'm gonna compare my HERO deck with the top 4 HERO drain deck from YCS Long Beach!

Part 1
Part 2
For whatever reason, we thought alike. I had the intention to run Beast King Barbaros in my build, but instead, I run Effect Veiler. As a result of Saturday's local tournament run, I lost 2 matches in swiss due to inconsistency. Honestly, it was a complete shock with every mistake that I had made, that I even got to top 4. I HATED drawing into those damn veilers. Now to get 2 Barbaros and replace those ladies.
Thunder Kings: Check!
HERO Engine: Check!
Crusader of Endemyon: Not check. I would have perfered Evocater Chevalier over it, but I guess he's saving his Nova Masters for the Evolzars. Running 4 Gemini Monsters, though, sounds like a good idea. He wanted as much consistency as possible in the deck, and it can be a major issue for that and any other low monster count deck.
And as a random factor, he didn't run Honest as I did. How many times did I get Honest to go off? NONE! That's definately coming out of the deck, for sure.
We had a lot of the same Spells in our lineups. The only difference is he didn't play the 1 Super Polymerization that I mained. To be honest, I think I'll do the same thing, since Elemental HERO Escuridao isn't in the TCG yet. That and he played Heavy Storm and I didn't. For me, I'm gonna continue to not play storm because with my theory, I want them to waste their backrow, so that when I go off, I won't have to worry about anything.
Trap lineup was so different, though. I believe his lineup was like this
2x Skill Drain
2x Dimensional Prison
2x HERO Blast
2x Torrential Tribute
2x Solemn Warning
1x Mirror Force
1x Solemn Judgment
1x Starlight Road
2 HERO Blast? I suppose it was pretty good when I saw my 1. Might try it. Another mistake I made with my build is trying to throw in 2 Fiendish Chains. Not saying it's a bad thing, but I got 2 Skill Drains in the deck, so why am I gonna need those? I have all-purpose Removal such as Gemini Spark.
Side Deck: Maxx C's I don't have, I'd side more Snowman Eaters, but I only own 1, and other than that, almost the same thing. Oh and about Forbidden Chalice, very underrated card! If I owned them, I'd use them. Smashing Ground is also a busted card in case D-Prison sucks ass. But yeah. I need to steer away from Effect Veilers if I wish to be successful with HERO's.
Extra Deck is pretty much like all others. You run HERO fusions, some expensive Xyz's, and a Stardust Dragon. Pretty much all there. He plays 1 Gaia, I will play 2 since Six Sams are really widespread in my area.
And that pretty much concludes today's comparison segment! Tune in whenever for more stuff coming your way in the future! =D
