With an upcoming regionals in Wilson, NC, I figured it'd be appropriate to post up on what you should have, and do at a regional. Follow these tips and whatnot, and you'll be ready for a regional near you!
First, we're going to cover what you need to do before you even think about coming to a regional. Failure to do so may result in a loss of respect, or worse. Well, you use your imagination for that.
Hygiene: Please, for the love of God, smell and look good for the event! I'm not saying look like a hottie in front of a few hot blondes, because there won't be any! It'll be about 95% guys, and the other 5% of the population will be girls....that are NOT single! Even if you play in the middle of a mall, no girl would wanna watch a nerd like you play a children's card game! ANYWAYS! Make sure your teeth are brushed, you shower before you leave, and make sure you're in comfortable shoes and clothing during the event. And PLEASE change that tampon if you get mad for losing!
Properly prepare your wallet: You will need a form of ID and your COSSY number. Also, bring enough cash to last you the entire day. For a regional, $50 should suffice. This means $20 for entry fee, $20 if you wish to get into the sneak peek, and $10 for food for the day. If you're a huge fat ass (or a dog), bring another $50 more for food. I'm sure you'll still be hungry after 10 meals at McDonalds. I'm sure we all know who we're talking about! Oh and if you wanna risk getting kicked out, bring a crap ton more money if you wanna buy cards from other people. But really. $50 and you should be good to go. Also, see your friend about gas money, because that wasn't included in the money.
A properly working mind and brain: If anything, get some sleep. I know it's hard to sleep before a regional since you're dreaming that you're fapping to your invite form, but PLEASE make sure that your head is screwed in right. If not, you're going to be using Effect Veiler on something like Rescue Rabbit or Beast King Barbaros. You're going to be at the event all day, so also make sure that you're able to mentally be able to stay there. Most importantly, make sure that your addictions are satisfied. If you gotta drink anything with caffeine, bring a $4 Mio Energy Water mixer. It will make you drink more water, and it makes you hyper. Then maybe when you get home, you will have enough energy to bang your girlfriend!
With that said and done, now we need to know what we should bring that's card-related. Do not exceed any of what's on this list, or you might suffer the consequences if you're not careful.
Deck: NO! NOT YOUR DICK! YOUR DECK! GOSH! Only bring the deck that you wish to play in the event. Don't bring any deck that you might not play all day. I personally think that dueling for fun at the regional is a waste of time.
Completed Deck List: Understanding that you can get a list to fill out at the event, please print one out and fill in your list at home! This will save you about 30 minutes of prep time, and it'll allow more time to trade with others. My suggestion is to fill in the list with a pencil, and bring that same pencil with you. If you suddenly need to change something, your eraser will be your friend. And please no giant dick pencils! They make the words move and creep others out.
New Sleeves: Refer to my sleeve guide for more info. Just know that you should get new sleeves so you get the best quality shuffle before the game. Lets just hope you don't get the best quality stack against you.
Trade Bait: This is optional. Although, you should bring some if you're willing to lose it! We need to minimize the stuff that you should watch at the event, so don't bring too much. If it gets stolen, I really don't know what to tell you. The staff at your event is essentially useless, and you'd be pretty lucky if an honest person found your stuff and turned it in. If it were me, I'd be slick and it'd be gone. Just kidding! I'd turn it in! =]
Well this concludes Part 1. Stay tuned for part 2 when I cover what to do during the regional!
